Vehicles in German City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police mentioned they were contacted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Police state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then discovered multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

City officials announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A senior representative stated the incident left him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
